At each stage, we face different challenges that can be tough to move throughout. I specialize in treating adult individuals during transitions and adjustments through life.
Being an adolescent is tough, but what about that decade or a few after? Emerging adults at the crossroads of life, love, and career. Women transforming into mothers, that pregnancy and postpartum roller coaster. A difficult health diagnosis where you find yourself searching for your new normal. At all these crossroads, we can get anxiety and depression, or feel paralyzed with fear or loss, and at anytime, any of these feelings can bubble up.
With support navigating these periods, you can live a more balanced and fulfilled life. Drawing from CBT, DBT, and MBSR therapies, I work from an interpersonal perspective and take an integrated approach to collaborate with you on a tailored treatment plan and attainable goals. Change happens in a place of safety, trust, and compassion. Meeting you where you're at, together, we embark on your journey to empowerment and healing. I use a healthy balance of support and challenge to facilitate your ability to successfully move throughout these difficult life stages.
I am particularly skilled in the areas of Maternal Mental Health and Psychosocial Oncology. I am certified to treat Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders and work with women also experiencing reproductive/infertility issues and pregnancy loss. I have received extensive training in the field of cancer wellness and chronic illness management. I have worked in various environments as a counselor - higher education, community mental health, hospitals, corporations, and in private practice that have helped me gain proficiency in working with people of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, race, class and socio-economic status. Finally, my background in business allows me to understand the critical intersection of the personal and the professional; something that we're always trying to balance throughout our life stages. Along with working with individuals, I also facilitate new mom support groups and cancer wellness groups.
The therapeutic relationship and finding the right fit is essential. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation; I look forward to connecting with you.
With a decade-long background in the corporate sector, I bring well-rounded experience to my work. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in both Communication and Psychology from the University of Utah and a Masters of Science in Education in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University in New York.
I did my graduate training at Montefiore-Einstein in their Oncology unity. I conducted individual therapy and facilitated a mind-body support group for advanced stage cancer patients.
I continued my work in psychosocial oncology with Gilda's Club in NYC, running groups at their West Village clubhouse and on site at local hospitals. I also conducted individual therapy at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Simultaneously, I spent 5 years in community mental health where I strengthened my proficiency in working with individuals from various cultural, ethnic, socio-economic backgrounds, and treated a range of presenting issues. I've also worked in HR consulting and an EAP, counseling employees of Fortune 500 companies. In all of these settings, I worked with women struggling to conceive, grieving through miscarriage and loss, and dealing with PMADs. Finally, I had a thriving private practice in Chelsea in New York City, which I recently left to relocate to Atlanta. I currently work with a group practice and also maintain my private practice.
