Annie Gonzalez

Intern

Annie is a graduate student in the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program at Mercer University and majored in psychology during her undergraduate studies. Annie has a passion for helping individuals in relationships with intimacy and sexuality. She believes strongly that consensual sexual pleasure is a human right and aims to help clients claim that right for themselves and their partners. Annie works with individuals of all sexual and relationship orientations, including monogamous and ethically nonmonogomous relationships.

In addition to her interest in relationship therapy, Annie has 4 years of experience as a nanny working with families and children ages 0-10. This hands-on knowledge enriches her awareness of childhood development and family systems especially, after the arrival of new babies. Annie enjoys working with families transitioning to parenthood or adding children, particularly how these changes affect the parental relationship.

Annie pulls from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Experiential Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to tailor fit her approach for each client. These theories help her facilitate the integration of both the embodied and cognitive experiences of emotion. This integration is foundational to secure attachment and close family and relationship bonds. Annie is supervised by Erika Pluhar and mentored by Chris DeVinney.

In her free time Annie enjoys being outdoors doing anything from hiking to enjoying a nice restaurant patio. She lives with her partner, English bulldog, and hairless sphynx and loves every second of living in the city. You can catch her bouncing between pop-up shops, farmers markets and thrift stores on the weekend and relaxing watching reality tv and making art on weekday nights.
