Meet Your Next Therapy Provider:
Shana Evans-Bassett
Shana Evans-Bassett, MED, MS, LPC
Shana is an Associate Professional Counselor providing treatment for adults and couples with clinical concerns including mood problems; major life transitions such as divorce, grief, and loss; relationship issues and communication; sexual/intimacy issues; self-esteem and identity development; and parenting. In addition to her work as a psychotherapist, Shana conducts virtual Bringing Baby Home workshops for couples who are making the transition to parenthood.
Shana sees the therapeutic relationship itself as the most meaningful and lasting route to healing, growth, and change. As such, she works actively within the relationship to help clients experience emotional safety, trust, and inclusivity. She uses an authentic, direct, and empathic style to assist clients in understanding and facing the challenges of their lives. As a couples therapist, she relates well to both male and female clients in heterosexual, gay, and lesbian relationships.
Shana draws from several theoretical orientations to provide treatment that is holistic and individualized to each client’s needs, working primarily from an attachment, psychodynamic and humanistic perspective, while incorporating systems, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness approaches as appropriate. As such, the therapy she provides is dynamic, process-oriented, and continually evolving in response to client needs and development.
Shana earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Georgia in 1999. After spending several years in secondary and early childhood education, she obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University in 2020. She completed a clinical internship at Grady Behavioral Health where she worked with clients facing severe and persistent mental illness including schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, anxiety, and depression. She also received training in psychological assessment and outpatient psychotherapy at the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services. Post-graduation, Shana has received training in couple and family therapy through The Gottman Institute and ICEEFT.

CEU Workshops
Workshops are longer sessions designed to help deliver a large amount of content in a short period of time. Oftentimes, workshops can last hours to days and are provided in a group format to deliver an intervention in a detailed and often experiential way.
